Deck Removal & Rebuild
A failing deck torn out and replaced from the footings up, so you're not layering a new build on top of old problems.
What's included
We remove the old decking, framing and posts down to the footings, or replace those too if they've failed.
All demolition debris is hauled off site, so you're not left with a pile of old lumber to deal with.
We check whether existing footings meet current frost-depth and load requirements, and replace them if they don't.
The rebuild is framed to current code for frost depth and regional snow load, not just matched to what was there before.
Since this is effectively new construction, we pull permits and schedule inspections for the rebuild.
The full rebuild is backed by our two-year workmanship warranty, same as any new deck we build.
Materials
Since the whole structure is being replaced, this is a good opportunity to switch materials entirely. For example moving from wood to composite. Without extra demolition cost later.
From first call to done right.
Assessment and removal scope
We inspect what's there to determine what must be demolished versus what, if anything, can be reused.
Written estimate and design
You get a full estimate covering both demolition and the new build, plus a layout for the rebuild.
Demolition and permitting
We remove the old structure, haul away debris, and file permits for the new one.
Rebuild and final inspection
The new deck is framed and finished from the footings up and passes final inspection before we walk it with you.
"The old deck was patched together for a decade before we called KP. They tore the whole thing out and the new one feels like a completely different structure."

Deck Removal & Rebuild FAQs
How do I know if I need a full rebuild instead of a repair?
If the main framing, footings or ledger connection have failed in multiple places, a rebuild is usually more cost-effective than chasing repairs one at a time.
Can the existing footings be reused?
Sometimes, if they're at proper frost depth and structurally sound, but we test this before deciding rather than assuming either way.
Will removal damage my landscaping?
We take care to protect surrounding plantings and hardscape during demolition and will discuss any risk areas with you beforehand.
Can I switch decking materials during a rebuild?
Yes, a rebuild is the easiest time to switch from wood to composite or change your railing style since the structure is being replaced anyway.
