Good to know
Shear spring bloomers right after they flower, or you're cutting off next year's show. Evergreens prefer light, frequent trims over hard cuts. Yews forgive, junipers don't. So we track what's planted where and time each visit accordingly.
Common questions
How often do hedges need trimming?
Formal privet or boxwood hedges typically need shearing 2-3 times a season to hold a clean line. Loose, natural shrubs usually need it once, maybe twice.
My shrubs are woody and bare inside. Can that be fixed?
Usually, yes, with staged rejuvenation pruning over a couple of seasons. Some species can even be cut back hard and come back fuller than before.
